About Dopa Foods

Somebody has to carry the whole cuisine.

You can buy a curry paste in India. Buying the paste, the coconut milk, the fish sauce and the palm sugar from one supplier who knows what they are for is harder.

Dopa Foods is an independent importer and distributor of international culinary brands, built in Mumbai for India's kitchens. We bring in finished products from the producers who make them at origin, one cuisine at a time, and put them within reach of restaurants, hotels, caterers, cloud kitchens and home cooks across the country.

A cuisine, not a catalogue

Most importers carry a little of everything. We do the opposite. Each cuisine we take on is built as a complete platform: the pastes, sauces, condiments and dry goods a kitchen needs to cook that cuisine properly, sourced from producers in the country of origin, with the documentation, storage guidance and application notes that professional kitchens depend on. Thai is our first platform. Korean, Mexican, Arabian and Levantine and Japanese follow in that order, and each is announced only when it is ready to ship.

How we choose what we import

Every product goes through the same process before it is listed: sensory evaluation against the best references we can find, application trials in a working kitchen with a consultant chef, a competitor comparison, and a review of the producer's certifications, allergen declarations and nutritional data. What passes is imported; what does not is not. We do not name a producer on this site until a distribution agreement is signed.

Who we serve

Professional kitchens are our first customers: hotels, restaurants, cafés, catering companies and cloud kitchens that need consistent supply in 1 kg and 5 kg formats with GST invoicing and proper paperwork. The same products are listed in retail sizes for home cooks who want to cook these cuisines with the real ingredients.

The founder

Dopa Foods was founded by Bhavish Sanghvi, who grew up around the food-ingredients trade in Mumbai and started the company to bring the world's cuisines to Indian kitchens with the seriousness they deserve. Dopa is an independent company, registered in Mumbai and FSSAI-licensed.

Dopa Foods Private Limited is legally and operationally independent. It is not owned, funded or backed by any other food business, and it does not trade on another company's licences, warehousing or distribution.

The founder is second-generation in the specialty food import trade. That is experience, not a corporate relationship, and it is the only claim made about it anywhere on this site.
